We are very proud that our very own Mr. Konten was a speaker at the National Education Union Conference this year. He has kindly written about his experience 
below:
“I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend the NEU conference Wales 2023 and represent the Cardiff district as a delegate. During the conference I was asked to second a motion on racism in the workplace. During my speech I talked about the importance of developing anti-racist training for staff and pupils that will ensure they are equipped with the knowledge on how to deal with racism in the workplace. I also spoke about the importance of being c
ulturally aware of people of different races, ethnicities, and religions. I believe this is extremely important if we are to break down cultural barriers and unconscious biases that may exist within the workplace.
As a teacher, I personally believe that if Wales is to achieve its goal of becoming an anti-racist country by 2030. Staff and students need to be equipped with the knowledge and language that will serve and protect them from racism not only in Schools but also in the real world.”
